Q. How was your infancy?
A. I always had a shaped body, but when I had about 12, 13 years I made a surgery to remove a dermatological cyst in the end of the column. I took lots of medication and I stayed three months in bed, I could not walk right and started to eat a lot . I have to stay at home, because I could catch some infection outside. There I’ve got very fat and I starts on diets.

Q. What did you do at that time to stop gaining weight?
A. I was always at nutritionists, always on diets, without weight control medications. Already I went on enzyme diet, of carbs and all diets that were given to me by everyone

Q. Do you have obese people in your family ?
A. In my mother’s family, generally the women are obese and the men are thin.

Q. How it was your time as a teenager ?
A. Complicated, because people’s discrimination. For example; in a volleyball game, I was always the last to be called, even they knowing that I played well . The others think twice in calling you to go out on leasure programs . There were a few true friend that I can count on (those I keep the friendship until now)

Q. How those that had discriminated you when you were obese interact with you nowadays ? A. They starts looking at me, asking me on dates. But for those, I use to say that I can’t, that I have other appointments.

Q. How much weight you lost after surgery?
A. When I operated I had 1.70m of height and 107kg and a BMI of 37. Today I am with 1.75 of height. This because of the column “stretching” after losing weight and after almost one year of surgery, I am with 67 kg and a BMI of 22.

Q. Which type of surgery you made?
A. The Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass (“Fobi-Capella” operation), because of my alimentary habit. I eat much candy and adore chocolate, so Dr. Almino’s opted for this surgery.

Q. Wer you heard about obesity surgery?
A. It was through a friend of my mother whose the son was operated by the Dr. Almino. She perceived that I suffered very much, without losing and keeping the weight, even making diets and more diets... I talk with my mother´s friend and starts searching information on this subject on the internet. I went doctor Almino’s office indicated for a friend and, in that same week would have a lecture (Multidisciplinar Meeting in the Saint Judas University), there I heard some testimonials and people give me support. By the way, I already was with depression also e, finally, for the surgery.

Q. When you he started to present depression?
A. Since the college. I have to studied a lot; I did not have time for nothing. At that time I was in the made physiotherapy course, but I quit and gain about 40kg because I did not know how to deal with college. I stay always in home. In my college class most of the women had beautiful bodies. Like me there were only another obese girl and we were discriminated , for example; If there were physical exercises classes , our mates laugh and doubted if we could do that.

Q. In matters related to boyfriends...?
A. At the time I was just overweighed, I had a boyfriend and he accepted me the way I was. But at the time that I got obese, I have no boyfriend. The people can’t assumes, but there is a clear discrimination . If he will have a girl with a pretty super body and one overweight, first the guy gone try the pretty one and the overweight is left alone, and only if he can’t get a date he gone look to the overweight.
Now people used to say (after I loose weight) that “I’m the one” . But, it is not because I got thin that I gone change my behavior , I still same Milena, relating with the people in the some way, only with the different body and clothes. There is a matter of fact that now when I go dancing, I don’t worry if they gone find me fat or not . My self-esteems improved enough.

Q. Do you work out?
A. In the beginning they had said me that I would have to walk for one hour more or less. Now I am not doing exercises

Q. The countdown for surgery it must be great...
A. One week before surgery I can’t sleep well , thinking in days lacked. A funny fact was that my surgery was schedule to November, 16 Dr. Manoela bound to me early asking if I was ready and if would accept to make the surgery sooner because there is had a vacant on the line to me... accepted in the some hour!

Q. How your family reacted?
A. When I decided to make the operation my family was against it . I did not leave my parents talk with nobody about it; by the way felt that my father was very overwhelming. Only one week before the surgery I called my entire family in my house and tell them all, before that only my parents only knew. The majority was against, but after the surgery and with the results, they change their minds and now say that it was the best thing that I made.

Q. Which message that you leave for the people who pass for this situation that you lived?
A. You have think, analyze, see what you want for your life, because it is not a trick, is a serious surgery. It is difficult say not to operate, because I was operated, and it was one of the best things that I made in the life. If I could have operated before, I would certainly do it all, because my life changed totally. Today, I am not worried in such a way if I go to get fat. Who already searched on the subject, already took the decision, at last who has exactly the necessity to operate and desires, has that to go in front!
